According to data collected by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, since 2003, thousands of deck-related injuries have been reported across the United States, including several deaths.
The most dangerous event is deck collapse, which can happen if the deck detaches from the house, or if the support beams buckle. Many different things can cause a deck to collapse, including age, wood rot, termite damage or poor construction.
