No one can replace your father. He filled your childhood with care, strength, and good advice that helped you become the person you are today. He worked hard to support his family and provided you with a role model for living your own life and raising your own family. This Father’s Day, celebrate all that your father has given to you and continues to give. You don’t have to do anything fancy – your father isn’t that type of guy. He just wants to spend time with his kids and grandkids, so invite everyone onto your deck for a family barbeque.
Father’s Day also marks the first day of summer. Your deck has been waiting all year to host some get-togethers, and Father’s Day is the perfect opportunity to bring your nearest and dearest together. Make sure before the big day that your deck is clean. If it’s been a year or two since you’ve stained and coated the deck, you might want to consider doing those two things before inviting the family up. Re-staining the deck will improve the look of the wood, showing off its vibrant colors. The coating will protect your deck boards from moisture and UV damage from the elements.
Double check your deck’s safety as well. Make sure that the deck is firmly attached to your home, the posts are sturdy, and the railing doesn’t wobble. (Read my blog on Deck Safety for more advice on assessing the safety of your deck.)
Once you are sure your deck is in good working order, it’s time to dust off your famous grilling recipes. Should you go for burgers and brats or really spoil your dad with some sizzling sirloin? It’s up to you. Your dad will probably just enjoy the time he gets to spend with you, your siblings, and your family.
Remember, family is forever. It’s easy to overlook days like Father’s Day as just another holiday, but it really is an opportunity to reconnect and strengthen the bonds with those who are most important to you. It’s also a chance to let your father know how much he means to you. Don’t let life get in the way of love.
Here at Best-Rate Repair, which we thank every father for stepping up and fulfilling that important role, and we hope all of our friends and customers have a fantastic Father’s Day!
